Shiso Delicious x Kanpai Sake: Plant celebration sake dinner: The five colours of Japanese food

I’ve been fascinated by the Japanese concept of 5 colours in food ever since discovering it while looking for bento inspiration in Japan. White, black, red, green and yellow should all be included in a meal to make it complete, according to old tradition with roots in Buddhism.

So, I’m very very excited to explore these 5 colours in a popup dinner with Kanpai Sake, the UK's first craft sake brewery. On Thursday 13 June we are bringing you an evening with one dish of each colour, paired with sake down in Kanpai’s cosy taproom in Peckham (London).

The menu will celebrate plant based food, seasonality and my Asian-Scandi heritage :) It also expresses the creativity of ingredients that can be sourced package-free, or with minimal plastic. This is something I’ve focused on since starting an experiment of ‘3 months of minimal plastic’ this January – an journey which is ongoing :)

I hope to see you there!

The menu is fully plant based (vegan). Spaces are limited.

Shiso Delicious x Clearspring: Organic Harvest Rainbow – Live Happening

Come watch, and help capture, Sara of Shiso Delicious as she join forces with Clearspring to create a huge rainbow out of seasonal produce and Clearspring foods at Go! Organic Festival.

When: Saturday 8 September, Sunday 9 September

Rainbow build and capture: Saturday 12am–2pm

Where: Clearspring Japanese Tea Garden at Go! Organic Festival, Battersea Park, London (2 for 1 festival ticket here)

What: Sara will build a 'rainbow' (much like the one in the image, just a lot bigger!) using seasonal organic vegetables donated by suppliers of the festival. The process will be captured as camera stills from a bird's eye perspective (again, much like in this image) to create an animation.

In Clearspring's Tea Garden you can also try an authentic tea ceremony, wear a yukata (summer kimono), fold some origami or eat delicious hot food! #plantbased
